Berkshire Agricultural Ventures, a local organization supporting farmers in the Berkshire-Taconic Region, has created a number of resources for livestock farmers and meat processors, to make navigating the local and regional meat processing supply chain easier and more accessible for food system stakeholders.
BAV’s Local Meat Processing Support Program resources include a Livestock Resource Guide, the Meat Up Listserv and Newsletter, and more.
Berkshire Grown and Berkshire Agricultural Ventures partnered to convene the Livestock Working Group, made up of various stakeholders in meat production to help guide our work. Through the Livestock Working Group and the Local Meat Processing Support Program at large, Berkshire Agricultural Ventures works to improve communication between producers, processors, service provider organizations, and other key stakeholders in the region while identifying next steps for long-term solutions to improve meat processing capacity and make livestock farming more viable.
