Planning for the future?
One of the easiest ways to create a legacy for Berkshire Grown is by designating the organization as a full or partial beneficiary of the remainder of a retirement plan asset (an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b), Keogh or profit sharing pension plan), or life insurance policy. This gift will accomplish a charitable goal while realizing significant tax savings. It can be costly to pass such assets on to heirs because of heavy tax consequences.
Donors should consult with their tax advisor regarding the tax benefits of such gifts.
- Fill out a beneficiary-designation form with the financial or brokerage firm that serves as custodian of your plan and list Berkshire Grown, Inc. (Tax ID #20-0482070), PO Box 983, Great Barrington, MA 01230, as a beneficiary.
- Notify Berkshire Grown so we are aware of this gift. Your plan administrator is not obligated to notify us, so we may not know if you don’t tell us.
- Continue to take regular lifetime withdrawals.
- Neither your heirs nor your estate will pay income taxes on the distribution of the assets.
