The USDA is making $30 million available to farmers, ranchers and food entrepreneurs to develop new product lines through their Value-Added Producer Grants (VAPG).

These funds can be used to develop new product lines from raw agricultural products or marketing and expansion of already developed product lines.  Grants will be awarded up to $75,000 for planning grants and $250,000 for working capital grants.  Grants require matching funds for 50% of total project costs.

Online submission deadline: July 2nd
Paper application postmark deadline: July 7th

Priority may be given to military veterans, socially disadvantaged, and beginning farmers and ranchers; operators of small- and medium-sized family farms and ranches; farmer and rancher cooperatives; and applicants that propose mid-tier value chain projects.

More information on how to apply is on page 26528 of the May 8 Federal Register.
