Farmers talk to Berkshire Grown – Episode 6
This week’s conversation is with Jae Silverman of Windrow Farm in Conway, MA.
Jae talks about balancing his part-time hay farming with working in the agricultural non-profit sector for Land for Good, offers advice for new hay farmers and gives some perspective on the different ways farmers are getting access to land. Andrea and Jae’s conversation meanders a bit as they geek out over small-scale farming and hay production (Jae is a self-described ‘hay nut’ with an admirable passion for grass farming) and what it means to be first generation farmers without land.
