The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) has announce that they are now accepting applications for new HIP access points. This includes both new vendors joining the program as well as additional terminals for existing HIP retailers.
Applications will be evaluated based on several factors, including:
- ability to reach SNAP populations that are vulnerable during the COVID-19 health crisis
- demonstrated client demand for HIP
- demonstrated ability to service HIP clients in culturally appropriate ways
Apply here by July 1. Our colleagues at CISA have developed this flow chart for the steps to take to apply. Page 2 shares details on how to write a competative application. Please note that according to DTA they have data for criteria 1-4; applicants should focus their efforts on criteria 5-7 describing how they will serve communities.
You may submit an application for HIP even if you do not currently have an active FNS number for processing SNAP. You will need to have an active FNS number by July 31, 2020 in order to participate in this HIP opportunity. To apply to accept SNAP, see more information here or here. Contact Jess for help with your application for an FNS number. If you have submitted a retailer application with FNS that may not be approved before July 31, please notify DTA by email – DTA.HIP@massmail.state.ma.us.
