Reduced Tillage and Alternative Energy Strategies at Red Shirt Farm

Join us for a farm visit and social hour. See the climate battery greenhouse, solar electric panels, and learn about the farm’s participation in a NOFA/Mass study on reduced tillage for soil carbon sequestration. Farmer Jim Schultz, also a NOFA/Mass board member, will be the host for our first farmer-to-farmer networking event.

Vegetable Equipment, Labor Management, and Business Decisions at MX Morningstar Farm

For this visit we’ll take a look at MX Morningstar’s array of equipment, from bed prep to cultivation to harvest, and talk with farmer Max Morningstar about the interplay between equipment use and labor management when considering decisions of how to scale the business.

Community Involvement with Caretaker Farm and Many Forks Farm

Don Zasada, of Caretaker Farm, and Sharon Wyrick, of Many Forks Farm will cohost this visit at Caretaker Farm.  Don will give us a brief farm tour, and then we’ll talk with these two CSA farmers about some of opportunities and challenges of inviting the community to your farm.

Light refreshments will be provided. These events are free. All levels of farmers and their staff are welcome.
