Berkshire Grown is working with a group of member farmers to develop a pilot project that will pair local grain growers with local livestock producers to provide a locally-grown, locally-milled, non-GMO source of feed for local livestock.
If you are a livestock producer interested in purchasing local feed for your animals, please fill out our survey.
If you are a grain grower, processor, or other interested party, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest in this project.
The Local Feed for Local Livestock project grew out of the Livestock Production meetings initiated by Keep Berkshires Farming. Keep Berkshires Farming was a three year agricultural planning effort that gathered data, summarized the current status of agriculture in the Berkshires, and organized the community to set goals for strengthening agriculture in the region. Now we are building on this terrific beginning: Berkshire Grown is overseeing the implementation of recommendations coming out of the Keep Berkshires Farming process, including work on farmland access and farmer networking.
